  Brian Kanof Photography (since 1967)
 

Brian Kanof began his photography career in 1967 as apprentice to Mauro Cotta, one of Rome's "La Dolce Vita" paparazzi. Over the past 40 plus years, Kanof has honed his photojournalist skills; with the El Paso Times in the late 60's, The Indianapolis News in the early 70's and as a freelancer for the likes of AP, UPI and Reuters news services in the 70's and 80's. Within this past year, he has photographed assignments for three of the most recent presidential candidates (Hillery Clinton, Rudy Juliani, John McCain). Brian Kanof He was Kinky Friedman's 2006 campaign Photographer for his run for Texas Governor and has contributed photographs for several of Friedman's books. Within the past year, Kanof has shot freelance jobs for The New York Daily News and The London Daily Telegraph.

Kanof is the Official Photographer for the University of Texas at El Paso Athletic Dept., shooting all Division One Sports for his alma mater. He has held the contract as the Official Photographer of the Brut Sun Bowl football game since 1967. As a music and concert photographer, he held the position of official photographer for the Kerrville Folk Festival (1975-91), and has photographically documented the careers of over 150 Texas Singer Songwriters. Kanof has over 20 album covers to his credit (Billy Joe Shaver, Willis Alan Ramsey, Butch Hancock, James McMurtry, Tom Russell) and is the go-to resource for concert images in the genre. "Texas Music" magazine purchased a 1976 photo of Willie Nelson for the cover of their 75th birthday tribute to Texas' most famous singer songwriter.

Brian Kanof Photography operates out of a 4,500 sq. ft. complex on the edge of downtown El Paso. Studio and commercial clients include the likes of Tony Lama and Ammons boot companies, Azar Nut Company, J.D. Abrams, C.F. Jordan, Jacobs, Robins & Morton, Service Star and Walton Construction Co's., Tenent Healthcare and the U.S. Corps of Engineers.
